Teeth can be lost for a number of reasons, including decay, trauma, infection, or gum disease, and this loss can result in a whole host of problems, as well as impacting your natural smile. Dental implants offer one of the most effective and long-lasting ways to replace one or more missing teeth, providing a fixed alternative to removable dentures.
At ConfiDental Clinic, we recommend Dental Implants to replace missing teeth, as the treatment has both aesthetic and functional benefits for our patients. To learn more about Dental Implants and if this is a treatment that you are considering, get in touch with us today.
Dental Implants are titanium posts that are surgically placed in the jawbone to act just like tooth roots. When expertly used, Dental Implants deliver a highly reliable treatment which provides a firm foundation for a crown or bridge. Titanium is also a durable metal that is very well tolerated by the body, and these cylindrical posts will eventually fuse with the bone.
A false tooth (a dental crown) which matches the colour and shape of your existing teeth is then fitted to the top of the implant, leaving you with a fixed solution and a natural-looking smile.
Dental Implants are increasingly becoming the favoured solution for missing teeth, offering a range of benefits for people’s natural smile, ranging from aesthetic to functional. For instance:
At ConfiDental Clinic, our patients are our top priority, which is why each case first needs to be fully assessed and planned before placing any Dental Implants. This is to ensure the treatment is most appropriate for you and your teeth.
The first appointment will be a free consultation and assessment, where there will be a detailed discussion about the treatment.
In the assessment, we will be checking your teeth and bone and bone quality to ensure there is sufficient density to hold the implant, taking x-rays and scans of the mouth to get a clear picture of your jaw. Using these scans, we will locate the best spot for us to place the implant. Impressions are also taken during the assessment process so that accurate models can be made of the teeth.
Once we have collated all the information required, your dentist will discuss the results with you and formulate your bespoke treatment plan detailing all available options and costs.
When it comes to placing the Implant, we always use a local anaesthetic to make sure you are completely at ease throughout the treatment. We place a temporary crown or bridge at the site to keep the area protected while the Implant fuses and heals.
It can take between 3 to 6 months for the Implant to fully fuse to the jawbone and heal. Once it has healed, the Implant is uncovered, allowing accurate impressions to be taken so that the high-quality restoration Crown, Bridge, or Denture can be made.
The restorations are first tried to confirm fitting, function, and aesthetics before the final attachment to the Implants. A review appointment is made following treatment to confirm function and performance.
Maintaining good oral hygiene is paramount with Dental Implants to ensure the surrounding gum and bone is kept healthy and to prevent receding gums and/or bone loss. We strongly recommend that you attend hygiene appointments and maintain specific interdental cleaning around the implant.
We test the Crowns or Bridge before fitting them in place to check the fit and make sure that you are happy with the final result and your newly restored smile. We then fix them in place to the implant abutment using a special dental adhesive.

Dental Implants are a great long-term solution, specifically designed to replace missing teeth effectively. If you have lost teeth due to decay, trauma, infection, or gum disease this treatment would be beneficial. It can improve speech, eating, and prevent your jawbone from shrinking in order to maintain the placement of existing teeth.
Titanium posts are used for the Implants which are then surgically placed in the jaw bone, and this screw acts as a substitute for the root of a natural tooth. This fuses with the bone and provides a suitable foundation for Crowns and Bridges.
As a permanent solution to replacing missing teeth, Dental Implants can last for 20 to 30 years as long as proper hygiene is undertaken.
As general or local anaesthesia is used during the procedure, the treatment is not painful and will only cause slight discomfort. Once the anaesthesia wears off, there will be mild pain which shouldn’t be of concern.
Dental implants feel and function exactly like normal teeth. They are reliable, sturdy, and strong. However, under unusual or uncharacteristic pressure, they can break just like a natural tooth would. During the treatment and healing process, the root of the implant tooth can break if such pressure is applied before it’s bonded with your jawbone.
The surgery can take between 1-2 hours for one titanium root.
The cost of Dental Implants can vary, depending on the degree and extent of treatment required. The full cost is therefore explained and confirmed in the treatment plan discussed. At ConfiDental Clinic, we also offer our 0% or low-rate finance options to help spread the cost of treatment.
