If you have missing tooth/teeth, there are 4 options for you to consider:-
Accepting the gap
At ConfiDental Clinic, we provide dental implants to replace missing teeth. It is recommended to replace the gap for both aesthetic and functional reasons as not only does it improve the appearance, it prevents neighbouring teeth moving into the gap and reduces strain on surrounding teeth that can cause problems with the bite.
Dental implants are increasingly becoming the favoured option, every way you look at it they are a better solution to the problem of missing teeth.
What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is a screw made from Titanium which is precisely positioned and placed in the bone. This screw acts as a substitute for the root of a natural tooth. Following implant placement, it is typically left to heal between 3 to 6 months before restoring with the crown, ensuring the implant has fully integrated with the surrounding bone securing a strong foundation.
Dental implants can be used to restore single missing teeth and retaining dental bridges and dentures.
What Dental Implants Can Achieve:
Replace one or more teeth without affecting neighbouring teeth
Support a bridge and eliminate the need for a removable partial denture
Provide support for a denture, making it more secure and comfortable
Advantages of Dental Implants:
Reliable and durable, they offer a longer term solution
Look and feel like your own teeth
Slow down bone loss and preserve nearby healthy teeth tissue
Confidence, as they allow you to speak and eat with comfort and assurance
What Does Dental Implant Treatment Involve?
Each case needs to be fully assessed and planned before placing the implant/s to ensure the treatment is appropriate for you. The assessment is to check your teeth, bone and bone quality to ensure there is sufficient density to hold the implant. This will involve x-rays, photographs and possible a 3D CT scan. Impressions are also taken during the assessment process so that accurate models can be made of the teeth.
Once we have collated all the information required from the assessment, your dentist will discuss the results with you and formulate your bespoke treatment plan detailing all available options and costs.
At ConfiDental Clinic, our implants are placed by Dr Patel who has completed a Masters in dental implantology. The implants are placed under local anaesthetic and left to heal, usually between 3 to 6 months. During this time, you will have temporary teeth placed if required for aesthetics and function.
Once the implant area has healed, the implant is uncovered allowing accurate impressions to be taken so that the restoration Crown, Bridge or Denture can be made. Guided by Dr Patel’s precise prescription, our dental technicians use state of the art computer scanning to construct first class quality and highly aesthetic restorations.
The restoration/s are tried in to confirm fitting, function and aesthetics before the final attachment to the implant/s. A review appointment is made following treatment to confirm function and performance.
Maintaining good oral hygiene is paramount with dental implants to ensure the surrounding gum and bone is kept healthy and to prevent receding gums and/or bone loss. It is strongly recommended that you attend regular hygiene appointments and maintain specific interdental cleaning around the implant.
